Kid friendly and family friendly restaurant in Chiang Mai
The Village is a lovely place to take the family for a higher end meal and great quality beer or wine. The children can run around the enormous garden and play in the playground while the adults enjoy some grown up time.
There are plenty of other restaurants in Chiang Mai with playgrounds to check out too and a growing list that have high chairs.

Eat and play
The Village is located about half an hour from the centre of Chiang Mai and you’ll definitely want to get there early enough for the kids to play! Going for lunch or an early dinner is your best bet to take advantage of the large play area.
Children can run around the large grassy area. There is even a football or two lying around for children to kick around. It also provides for a space to play tag or any of the chasing games the kids have come up with these days!
The giant centipede climbing structure is definitely something to check out. We’d never seen anything like it! Climb over it or hang down from under it. In addition there are huge monkey bars – wide enough so that friends or siblings can race each other across to see who reaches the other side first!
Near the front of The Village Coffee and Eatery is a small Japanese inspired fish pond. Here you can see koi fish and take a tranquil moment for yourself by the waterfall.
Seating
The Village has indoor and outdoor seating. If you’ve brought the kids, you’ll definitely want to sit outside to keep an eye on things. The restaurant provides bug spray so you don’t need to worry about bringing some!
Food and Drink
Food
While there is no set kids menu, there are plenty of kid friendly options on the regular menu. We ordered the spaghetti and my daughter ate every last morsel and even tried to lick the plate clean! She never does that.
The mixed vegetable dish looks simple, but it was packed with fresh veg and not just lettuce or cabbage like some places do. It was also incredibly well flavoured.
Drinks
For drinks, The Village is well-known for its craft and imported beer listings. Prices start at 220 and go up to 700 per bottle, however, they are beers that can be very difficult to find here in Chiang Mai.
Of course, there are other drinks too, but they are most famous for their beer selection. Wine is also available as are smoothies, coffees and more.
Birthday parties
The Village Coffee and Eatery is a great place to host a kids’ birthday party! There is not charge if you wish to host your own party there – simply reserve the space. If you’d like a bouncy castle, like at this recent birthday party, than please contact The Village for more information.
How to get to The Village Coffee and Eatery
The Village is located outside of Chiang Mai up the Samoeng Road south of the city.
For visitors to Chiang Mai the easiest ways to get here are to take a Grab or to take a songtaew. While for those who live here, it’s best to drive. There is free parking outside The Village Coffee and Eatery.
