An Off the Beaten Path Restaurant and Resort in Chiang Mai – Bamboo House
The Playground
Officially called บ้านขวัญเคียงดาวรีสอร์ท Bann Kwan Khiang Dao Resort, ‘Bamboo House’ is one of those gems that you find turning up a road where you’ve always wondered what was up it! Not to say no one knows about it, they definitely do. It’s actually quite a popular spot especially in the cool season or camping season.
From the outside it’s rather nondescript except for the signage which has that rustic Thai countryside look to it.
When you enter you’ll see the restaurant to the right and a playground to the left.
It’s got a tiny rock climbing structure, slide and trampoline. Younger children would be sure to enjoy it! If not, there’s plenty of grassy area for them to run around on.
The playground and restaurant are open to the public! Alternatively, it’s actually a lovely spot for a staycation near Chiang Mai.
The Resort Rooms
Well, you can see where Bamboo House gets its name from! These ‘floating’ huts look like an adventure to sleep in! Definitely a spot for cool season where no a/c is required. They have a view of the gorgeous hillside behind them.
If a less rustic option is for you, Bamboo House also offers modern bungalows. These ones have a front veranda that overlooks a beautiful natural stream with view of the green hillside. There is a hammock and it is incredible relaxing to hang out here.
There is also a family bungalow with interconnecting rooms. Find out how much a room costs for this weekend!
This is the large bungalow where upwards of 8-10 people could stay. It’s tucked in the back and doesn’t have a private feel that the other nature bungalows do, but it looks really nice!
Finally, they offer glamping pods! These look incredibly cozy. It would also appear during camping season that they offer other glamping tents and firepits as well. So cool!
Food and Drinks
Actually, we didn’t stay long enough to enjoy any food but it is resort prices. Reviews online show the food is good and it is mostly Thai fare.
The Surrounding Scenery
Just across from the resort is this amazing view of the countryside and mountains in the background. It’s so peaceful and it’s so nice to just have a moment to take it all in and appreciate that this is only 20 minutes from the city.
