Just south of Chiang Mai, is this cute little water park
Buffa Cafe and waterpark Chiang Mai is actually located in San Pa Tong, approximately a 40 minute drive from the centre of Chiang Mai but not too far at all if you live in Hang Dong. There are buffalos to feed, a cafe and restaurant, covered seating areas with air conditioning and even a small playground.
It’s also really affordable and great for kids under 12.
Getting to Buffa Cafe Waterpark
Sometimes referred to as Sanpatong Beach, Buffa Cafe is really easy to find. Simply drive straight on the 108 road heading south away from Hang Dong. Keep going past the major San Pa Tong intersection and take the next left after the turn off for Mae Wang. Drive over the canal and turn left. Follow the signs!
The waterpark
The waterpark is divided into two sections. One is distinctly for smaller children where the water is shallow with a small and not steep slide. There’s a splash pad as well for kids just getting used to the water.
It’s located right next to the seating area so parents can keep a close watch.
The larger part has two water slides. One of which you ride down on a tube if you like. At the end where the big blue ball is is the deep area where kids can swim around. The entrance into the water is like a fake beach so you can also lie down there.
For those moms or dads with older kids, you can grab a beach chair and lounge away and pretend your miles away at the beach. These chairs provide the best view of everything going on as well.
The playground
This is a thoughtful add on for kids or siblings who may not want to swim. The plastic does get a bit hot during the afternoon so hopefully they’ll be adding more cover to shade it.
Food and drink
The cafe has nice cafe drinks that you would find anywhere and are reasonably priced. The food leaves a lot to be desired but it’s inexpensive Thai food. They’ve got the snack foods kids enjoy like French fries and chicken nuggets which is good. You’re not supposed to bring outside food in.
Is it safe?
Yes, just mind your kids and watch for people going down the slide at once. It gets pretty fun with the inner tubes and turns into a water bumper car type thing when it’s busy.
The water is clean and clear and the slides not too fast.
How much is Buffa Cafe waterpark?
The price is crazy affordable. It’s a mere 50 baht per person no matter your age or nationality – no dual pricing! They do charge anyone who enters the swimming area so even if you don’t plan to swim, you still have to pay an entrance fee.
