The Shangri-la resort Chiang Mai is one of the best places to stay with kids in Chiang Mai and also to come for a swim!
The Shangri-la is the only resort in Chiang Mai that has a water park! To be honest, it’s more of a giant waterslide and a splash pad but that’s head and tails above all the other resorts.
The hotel also has a playground and nanny service.
The Shangri-la is also open to the public. Usually, access to the pool is included with any of their brunch or lunch buffets. Nowadays, hotel management has been offering swimming promotions without the need to eat. You can check their website for details.

What’s so great about the Shangri-la resort Chiang Mai?
Besides the water slide and pool, it has to be its location. The Shangri-la resort Chiang Mai is located within walking distance of the famous Night Market and is also a short Tuk Tuk ride away from China Town, home to the equally famous Warorot Market.
The hotel as you likely know, has a renowned worldwide reputation for high standards. What we love about it how they do this without plenteousness. You feel comfortable here, even though it is considered a high-end hotel. Kids can be kids and the staff are very accommodating.
Each day the hotel staff also offers activities for children varying from ceramic or umbrella painting, nature art, and Muay Thai boxing classes for kid’s aged between 4 and 12.
Also, the food. My goodness… the buffet is to die for! The hotel also has four restaurants.
The water park
Here’s a better view. You can see there’s a splash park, splash pad area for little ones, and the big slide for bigger kids! Adults can go on it too 🙂
The Shangri-la resort a very popular hotel to stay at or swim at here in Chiang Mai and kids just love it! The pool itself is enormous with plenty of lounge chairs to sit on. There are also lifeguards on duty, another rarity here in Chiang Mai so you know your and your kids are safe while in the pool or on the waterslide.
The playground
The playground is just outside of the Chinese restaurant which serves up some delicious dim sum by the way! It’s set under a treed area so there’s plenty of shade. It’s perfect playground for younger kids, but they also designed it with bigger kids in mind.
There is giant chess! That’s always lots of fun and more of a challenge. In the back there is a Ping-Pong table as well to get your game on.
The rooms and room prices
The deluxe rooms look like this. They do have larger rooms available as well as rooms with differing viewpoints of Chiang Mai. Those beds look quite comfy – like clouds!
