A nice place to have a coffee or small meal while the children play
No. 39 Cafe is a very popular place for Instagrammers to take photos, so you can expect it to be busy. It’s not a nature cafe that you would spend a long time at anyways, but makes for a nice spot to stop on a day out or just a nice place to relax with a cold drink.
Also be sure to visit these other family friendly nature cafes around Chiang Mai.

A perfect place for selfies, Instagram photos and family photos in Chiang Mai
When we visited this nature cafe in Chiang Mai, we were surprised to see so many people there during the week. The strange part is everyone was dressed up! Families with children had their kids in their Sunday best and everyone was taking photos.
This actually made it quite difficult for my kids to enjoy the slide as all these people were posing on it. The kids must have made some sort of silent agreement with the Instagrammers who would sneak in shots as the children ran back up the stairs to slide again.
The slide isn’t the only highlight. No. 39 Cafe is situated in the foothills of Doi Suthep so it has lots of greenery. There are nice places to sit outside and special places to sit overlooking the small pond in the middle. There are no boundaries however to prevent little ones from falling into the water, so you’ll want to keep a close eye. Also, the coffee shop’s entrance leads directly on to the road so just keep the kids close.
No. 39 Cafe is probably better for older children to explore and if you dare, attempt to get in the kayak!
Enjoy the drinks and food while you’re here
No. 39 Cafe does not have an extensive menu for food. In fact, it only serves up 4 items. What people really come here for are the drinks. I ordered a coffee and it was really good!
Aside from sitting outside, there is a small air conditioned room that has a piano. No one seemed to mind when my kids started playing it and soon everyone wanted their children to take photos playing it too! The a/c provided a nice reprieve from the heat before the kids were back outside exploring.
The food itself was decent. The breakfast came with the most delicious bacon and is truly served all day! For 99 baht I thought is was a great breakfast set. The fries were perfectly deep fried too.
How to get to No. 39 Cafe ?
Well, to be honest it’s rather difficult to find. It’s located within the Pong Noi area but there are no signs on the road to indicate where it actually is. From the outside, it appears to be a construction zone and you wonder if the cafe has been torn down.
Use Googlemaps to find it and park in the dirt parking lot, then look for the British mini car. Once you find it you’re heading in the right direction.
You can also get here quickly and cheaply using Grab or you could take a taxi.
