Mug Cafe & Bistro hits the spot!
Out in Hang Dong is yet another beautiful cafe. What sets this one apart is its Lanna Thai heritage buildings and treehouse structure. It also has GREAT coffee and nice food! The owners have also thought of the kids too.

Lovely spot for breakfast or lunch
We happened upon Mug Cafe and Bistro after dropping off my daughter at a local summer camp. There are two entrances with one being the obvious front door, and another to the left which leads straight to the outdoor seating area.
The outdoor area provides perfect views of the play area and sand pit and happens to be naturally shaded. Surrounded in a natural setting you feel relaxed, and this gets passed on to the children who seem to play more calm here than anywhere else I’ve seen.
Under the Lanna style teak homes are other seating areas that are kept cool with fans and still provide a clear view of kids playing.
During the hot season, you may prefer to sit indoors in the air conditioning, however you cannot easily see kids playing from here.
The play area
As seen in the top photo, the play area is really simple. It has a small plastic slide, and rope swing thing, and sand. Seriously, sand is all any kid needs! Mug Cafe also has plenty of toys available for kids to play with.
The only potential annoying thing are all the stairs that lead up the treehouse platforms that they have. If you have new walkers or less than confident walkers, or even better, runners with a wish to be stuntmen, then maybe this isn’t the place for you. The treehouse goes about 2-3 storeys up with a tantalizing option to climb out onto a tree limb.
So there’s that to keep in mind!
What kind of food do they have at Mug Cafe & Bistro?
Food & Drink
I would come every morning during my daughter’s summer camp for breakfast. It’s only 89 baht! The cappuccino is one of the best I’ve ever had. Their other food looked really delicious (from what I spied off of other peoples orders!) and I would definitely try something else next time.
When is the best time to go to Mug Cafe & Bistro?
Anytime! It’s sheltered from rain for the most part allowing you to wait out some down pours and you can sit inside to avoid the wetness or the hear.
How to get to Mug Cafe and Bistro?
To get here only takes about 30 minutes from the centre of town. Grab is the easiest solution if you don’t have your own transportation. Of course you could also take a taxi as well.
To get here by yourself, I would personally take the Hang Dong Rd (108 Rd) or the Canal Rd( 121 Rd). Along the Canal Rd you will have to do a U-turn and head back towards Mug Cafe and Bistro which will be on your left. There is parking just out front.
