T-rex, triceratops, raptors, oh my! Meet dinosaurs at Hidden Village Dinosaur Park in Chiang Mai!
Are your kids obsessed with dinosaurs? Then this is the park for you! Enter into a prehistoric world at Hidden Village Chiang Mai. It’s one of the best attractions for kids in Chiang Mai to spark their imaginations.
UPDATE – they now promote animal tourism with crocodile and monkey shows where the animals have been trained to do tricks. Please use your discretion before supporting this attraction which used to be so wonderful in its simplicity.
Top things to see and do with kids at Hidden Village dinosaur park Chiang Mai
See some prehistoric plants and animals!
In the past, a long long time ago, flora and fauna (plants and animals) were much larger than they are today. Hidden Village has ridiculously large insects, reptiles and plants that everyone can climb onto and into!
Obviously some of the animals and insects didn’t exist way back then during the Mesozoic era, but it’s still fun to imagine if butterflies really were that enormous, what would life be like?
Visit the petting zoo!
There are live animals here too! The kids will enjoy seeing sheep, pigs, donkeys, and horses. I wonder what they must think being surrounded by giant plants, bugs and dinosaurs! You can pet the animals and even feed them if you wish for around 30 – 40 baht. All of the animals were quite friendly and you can even ride a horse for 100 baht a go.
Ride a horse
If your son or daughter loves horses, this could be a nice opportunity to ride one! For 100 baht, your child will be led around the grounds to experience riding a horse. You may expect a long wait if Hidden Village is busy. Horse riding is always a popular activity.
Visit the bunny and bird farm
Just past the entrance, amoung on of the first attractions you’ll see at Hidden Village, is an enclosed farm. Here you can play with and feed bunnies, and meet some exotic birds!
To feed the rabbits costs 20 baht, and kids will enjoy watching the bunnies hop. Please remind them not to pick them up though as they may jump away and hurt themselves.
Go to the playground
The outdoor playground at Hidden Village is just so much fun! There’s nothing quite like it in Chiang Mai and honestly, sometimes we come here just for the playground. It’s really large and the ground is covered in soft sand. The playground structures are unique in that there are no stairs. Children must use different strategies to get up and down the wooden sustainable playground and it’s great for ages 2 – 9 years old. For more photos see our profile on Hidden Village’s outdoor playground.
Hidden Village also has a soft play playground for crawlers and toddlers aged under 1 to 3 years old. It’s tucked away in the dinosaur park at the back right hand side. However, unlike the outdoor playground it isn’t free. It costs 40 baht for 20 minutes.
See the dinosaurs!
ROARRR!! Dinosaurs – finally! This is what you came here for 🙂 The dinosaurs are actually really cool. The majority of them are animatronic, which means they come to life! They move, they roar, they look right at you! And they are HUGE! Designed to be as life like and realistic as possible, it will be like walking through a prehistoric imagined time and the kids will love it.
Ride a dinosaur
Hop in the dinosaur saddle and take one for a ride! These battery operated dinosaurs can be steered using the handles, much like how you would steer a bicycle. It doesn’t say there’s an age limit so theoretically you could get on the dinosaur with your child or take one for a ride on your own. It’s a tad pricey though at 40 baht for 4 minutes, although if this is going to be your only time out to Hidden Village, then why not?
Ride a train
Dinosaurs too scary? Hop on the sheep train ride instead! Each ride costs 20 baht and smaller children will enjoy the ride that goes round and round. While they ride, they will love pretending to steer the train as they go!
Bounce in the bouncy castle!
What kid doesn’t love an excuse to go on a bouncy castle?! It’s great for some many reasons, some being that mom and dad can have a rest, the kids will tire themselves out while getting some great exercise. The bouncy castle costs 20 baht and when we were there, there was no time limit! I imagine on busy days they probably impose a 10 – 20 minutes limit.
Eat at the Hidden Village restaurant
A nice spot for lunch or dinner, The Barn Steak House Hidden Village is kid friendly. In fact, children 100 cm and under EAT FREE when mom or dad orders a steak, a burger, pasta or a sandwich. There’s also a kid’s menu where meals are only 100 baht such as fish and chips, ham-cheese sandwich, chicken nuggets and spaghetti.
Food and drink
The food looks amazing, although we’ve never personally eaten here. Steaks run up to 400 baht, grilled salmon is 350 baht and the sausage platter is only 250 baht. There are plenty of more expensive restaurants in Chiang Mai, although they over charge for their rice dishes at 120 baht each!
Seating
The interior looks like the inside of a very fancy barn with wooden tables and seating. Also, they have high chairs!
Get a photo souvenir
Just before you exit, there will be a photo display of framed photos of you and the family enjoying a moment at Hidden Village. They are a bit tacky and I think they cost 200 baht, but it could be a nice memory!
Getting around Hidden Village Dinosaur Park
It’s not that big of a place and the outlay is done quite well ensuring you don’t miss a thing! You walk to get from place to place and the pathways are both stroller and wheelchair friendly 🙂

Things to consider
Make the effort to get to Hidden Village even more worth it with a visit to Elephant Parade Land! It’s a mix of a museum and an art studio that highlights the importance of elephant conservation and rehabilitation. Entrance to the museum is free while to paint your own elephant costs around 400 baht, however a portion of the proceeds go towards the conservation of local elephants.
