Spend some family time at Flora Creek Resort Chiang Mai (It’s open to the public)
Flora Creek Resort Chiang Mai (Krisadadoi) is a wonderful place to escape Chiang Mai and head into nature with the kids. The grounds are enormous with lots of space to run around. There’s a restaurant and a cafe, but it is free to enter and enjoy the sights! It’s the perfect spot for those families on a budget.

Feel like you’re in a Victorian style garden in Chiang Mai
The flower gardens that you pass from the entrance are spectacular. This would definitely be a place to dress up and take fantastic photos with the flowers as the back drop! There are fountains as well and grassy paths to walk along. Many couples have their wedding or engagement photos taken here as well.
You and the kids would enjoy running through here playing tag or possibly hide and seek. It’s got paths that lead to different parts of the resort so definitely try to stick together though. It’s also quite hot in these area so a hat is a good idea!
Running through Flora Creek naturally, is a creek. There are little waterfalls to spot along the creek, but it is not safe for swimming in. Actually, you’re not allowed to splash around in it at all. But it’s very pretty! If the kids get too hot, there are usually sprinklers around that they can run through for a quick cool down.
The gardens seem to go forever with lots of raised pathways and walkways to follow. You’ll see antique looking cottages and a watermill too. This section of open grass, trees, and paths is open to the public and you will know when you get to the resort section when you see the pool! It’s gorgeous and unfortunately not open to the public. You have to be a paying guest to use it!
Seating at the cafe
The cafe itself is so picturesque in a wooden lodge. It’s got a huge front patio area and an inside seating area too but what really stood out to us as Canadians were the Muskoka chairs! These are the chairs that practically everyone has in Ontario cottage country. How did they end up in Thailand? It was a nostalgic moment to sit in them.
We recommend ordering a small snack (prices are resort prices so just be aware!) and enjoy sitting next to the waterfall as you eat! It’s a stunning setting and so relaxing, if of course you can get the kids to settle down.
When is the best time to go to Flora Creek?
In the hottest months you’d enjoy yourselves most in the mornings or late afternoon. During rainy season it can still be hot during the day, but in mornings or late afternoon it’s most likely to rain. It’s a lovely spot to check out either way and if you don’t purchase anything it’s completely free!
What kind of food do they have at Flora Creek?
Food

The food offered is definitely more on the high end, and it should be seeing as this is a high end resort! Just be prepared to pay resort prices. Their plating is quite nice and they serve a mixture of Thai and Western cuisines.
Drink
They also have typical drinks but they are resort prices. Best to order one to share it you are on a budget. The drinks look delicious though! The smoothies in particular look refreshing and they have beers and wines too. Apparently they offer tea or high tea as well.
How to get to Flora Creek?
Grab is the easiest solution if you don’t have your own transportation. Of course you could also songtaew it or take a taxi as well. To get here by yourself, drive south along Canal Road (the 121) or the Hang Dong Road (the 108) towards the second ring road (also the 121) and turn right to head West up the 1269 towards Samoeng. There are signs marked a long the way for either Krisdadoi (it’s old name) or Flora Creek. It’s about 20 minutes drive along the 1269 and it will be on your left hand side and parking is out front.
