While obviously no one wants a reason to use these contacts, it is important to have access to Chiang Mai’s emergency facilities if need be. If you should experience an emergency which you cannot deal with by yourself or are involved in an accident, the important thing to remember is not to panic. *THIS (1669) is the number you call in a medical emergency unless you have a specific hospital in mind. Operators speak English. Calling 1669 will ensure you get a local responder to the scene quickly, followed by an ambulance which will take you or your family member to the nearest hospital.

Some hospitals offer ambulances which ensure you will be sent to that specific facility. This can be useful if you trust or feel more comfortable with the services provided a particular hospital.

Chiang Mai is overall a safe place. Should you ever need to contact the police in response to an unfortunate crime, fire, traffic incident or anything else, Chiang Mai offers a few services. To report a crime If you are not sure which number to call, the nationwide emergency help number 191 is your best bet.
