Whether you’re looking for a travel visa, renewing your passport, or have an emergency, having easy access to consulate services is a luxury! Within the city there are 20 nations operating consular services in Chiang Mai.
The majority of services are offered through honourary consulates. This means that full services are not necessarily available. To make any sort of inquiry, the best way to reach a consulate is to pick up the phone.
Email isn’t terribly reliable in many cases and it’s always a good idea to call before you plan to visit. Stated operating hours are flexible in some cases. There have been a few times I’ve gone to my consulate during the proper hours and found no one there! A few are accessible by appointment only.
Also important is that embassies and consulates are closed on Thai holidays and holidays in the respective home country. Information about your consulate is just a click away!
