One of our favourite places to go with kids in Chiang Mai!
There’s just something about Chada Cafe and Restaurant that sets it apart from the rest. It could be that it’s open later and it’s a beautiful spot to be when the sun goes down. Or it may be because of the freedom children feel that they have when they’re here.
Far more than just a cafe, read on to find out what else there is to see and do at Chada Cafe!

A place you’ll keep coming back to with the kids in Chiang Mai
One of the many amazing features about Chamcha Cafe is that they stay open late! This means there is no rush to leave and on weekends, you’ll have a place to go to that parents will enjoy too.
Chada Cafe stays open until 11:30 pm daily and is a wonderful spot to be under the glow of the sunset.
The farm animals
Chada Cafe doesn’t advertise as a farm, yet it easily could. It’s more like a petting zoo if anything. They’ve got ostriches, exotic birds, lambs and sheep!
Feed the sheep
For 20 baht kids can feed the lambs and sheep adorably sized bottles of milk. Just watch out as the staff hand these out like candy and you can rack up a fairly substantial bill. We learned our lesson the first time and make sure to tell the staff no more because our kids were sneaky little buggers asking for more!
Ride the swings!
Who doesn’t love a good swing? What’s great is that there are two sets of swings so no one has to fight. One near the entrance has three swings so fighting over who gets to go is a non-issue. The second set is near the construction play set and has two swings.
Play in the sandpit
At the back area is a huge sandpit and metal playground. Funnily enough our kids hardly play here as they distracted by the freely roaming sheep or just want a go on the swings. For the little ones, it all about the steam roller.
See construction equipment up close
It appears Chada Cafe and Restaurant is owned by a small local construction company. Near the sandpit is an out of commission steamroller that has been painted over in child friendly art. Little kids especially just take to it and let their imaginations go wild! It’s hard to pull them off it when it’s time to go.
Then out front where you park are fully operational construction trucks, dump trucks and excavators. It’s pretty awesome to see these up close! Any kid into construction vehicles will be in heaven.
The open green space
It’s just really nice here. Adults can just enjoy themselves sat amongst the roaming animals and kids. They kids really just take care of themselves here as there is so much space for them to play.
The best part is you can see them pretty much anywhere they are from any table as long as you are sat on the grass part.
At night, these lovely hanging lights turn on and they have live music. The music is perfect and not too loud at all, unlike some other places where you can’t even hear yourself think. Not here! Chada Cafe is such a nice place to come.
What’s the food like?
We quite enjoy the food! It’s reasonably priced and they have plenty of options. Sorry but all we’ve got is a photos of some of the kid friendly food. Service isn’t as fast as other places, but I think that’s because they haven’t expected to become so popular so quickly!
When is a good time to go to Chada Cafe?
Seeing as there really isn’t much shade at all, we tend to go late afternoon or evening. It’s also got no cover form rain, which will make it challenging to gauge when to go in the rainy season as it rains in one part of Chiang Mai and not the other. Let’s see how they adapt to rain. Who knows? Maybe they will build a covered seating area.
How to get to Chada Cafe and Restaurant?
Chada Cafe is located near the Ping River just off the first ring road (3029). It’s actually quite close to Ginger Farm. Grab is the easiest solution to get here and get back home again or you you could also songtaew it or take a taxi as well if you don’t have your own transport.
In order to drive here on your own, I would recommend if coming from the city, to take Mahidol Rd (1141) to the river and then head south down the river until you get to the underpass. Turn right and then take the first immediate left which will take you straight to Chada Cafe.
Parking is just as you enter near the trucks.
