Why stay at this treehouse resort in Chiang Mai?
Rabaeng Pasak Treehouse Resort in Chiang Mai will have you in awe right from the start. We just loved everything about it and were lucky enough to go with many families and see inside many of the treehouses. The grounds are beautiful and the owners are absolutely lovely and customer focused. They know everything there is to know about the area including some local adventure spots to check out including caves!
It is a resort designed with adventurous families in mind and it’s best for children of confident walking age and up. It’s also the kind of place, due to the plethora of stairs, that you must keep a close watch on little ones. BUT don’t let that deter you as it’s still an incredible resort!
So let’s find out what makes this treehouse resort so great!
The treehouses are awesome!
I mean, where do I begin?! We were lucky enough to have our picking of the treehouses and once we got there, we saw that it really doesn’t matter which one you end up with, they are all going to give you that special memory.
Just look at them!
Not every room has so many stairs or is so far off the ground. A couple of the rooms have porches and one even has it’s own ‘private’ nature pond spring area to swim in.

You will be so cozy!
We happened to go smack in the middle of cool season where it reached about 8 degrees Celsius at night. The treehouses provided the coziest space to keep each other warm. Lots of extra blankets were provided and our treehouse had hot water and a small tub!
Some treehouses have bunkbeds and even full size bathtubs. Take a look inside!
It’s just like staying in one of those tiny homes, except it’s off the ground. In hot season the rooms are fan only, but we imagine the rooms are still quite cool due to all the airflow from the windows.
The best treehouse resort in Chiang Mai is very child-friendly
Quite clearly the owners have been at this catering to families for quite a while. They had thought of so many wonderful things for kids of all ages! At the check-in counter there were plenty of toys available to freely play with. From trucks, to puzzles, to coordination games, to colouring, and more, they had it!
Also of note is they have a sandpit!
Free bicycles
Along with that Rabaeng Treehouse Resort has bicycles for all ages and even tricycles too! The bicycles are included in your stay and you can take them out at any time to explore the incredible surroundings. There were no baby bicycles seats that we saw, although the owners are so accommodating I’m sure if you suggested or requested, it they were order some!
Campfires, marshmallows and more!
At night you are more than welcome to have a campfire. The resort provides wood bundles at 50 baht each and each treehouse comes with its very own firepit!
Even more exciting is that they have marshmallows! In fact, they have marshmallow kits that come with the sticks too. Only 50 baht a pack!
Also, they provide laundry service if you need it (which you might after visiting one of the awesome attractions below). Laundry costs 50 baht /kg.
Bats, caves, sunset points and a desert
The amount of things to do around the resort is really impressive. There are 2 caves and a local famous attraction – the red sands ‘desert.’ For the more able families, you can easily take the bicycles from the resort and explore all of these attractions in a day. All are in close proximity to the resort.
Here is a map Treehouse Resort provides:
A few of the kids we stayed overnight with were not ready for bicycles, so we drove to the suggested parking spots by the resort staff and walked the very obvious and beautiful biking paths from there.
The first stop – The Bat Cave!
Each attraction is surprisingly well marked and the signage is well researched. The information is written in both Thai and English. The hiking paths to all attractions are clear and wide with beautiful woods surrounding them.
It’s a great place to hike with kids!
The walk to the first cave, The Bat Cave, took about 20 minutes from where we parked. It’s a small cave with some stairs to climb to reach the entrance. Once inside, you will need a light source. Your cellphone light should be fine, but the resort will also provide you with flashlights!
Inside we did see some bats! The kids loved it and there were some cool crawl spaces for them to go through.
From here, it’s a nice walk (or bicycle ride) to the Red Sanda aka Red Desert.
The Red Sands ‘Desert’
The hike from the bat cave will lead you past red rolling hills of sand. Much of the area is covered in this red sand making is appear to be some kind of desert. It is absolutely stunning to look at.
The kids of course immediately saw that you could slide down the dunes!
It is so much fun! Just be prepared for clothes to turn red! (Oh and by the way, we were able to wash it out of everything except certain white clothes). The dunes are not made of soft sand though. The surface underneath is rounded, smooth rock, and the sand is made of very small pebbles.
The Red Sands go on for quite a while and the officially marked spot is quite a ways further down the hiking trail, but you can enjoy it at many spots along the way.
The so-called ‘desert’ is likely the remnants of an ancient sea bed. Nothing much grows in it due to high salt content in the red soil. Hence why it looks like a desert.
Visit sunset point
Located a short 500 m walk from the resort is a gorgeous spot to view the valley below and watch the sun disappear behind the hills. It makes for the perfect end to a day right before dinner.

The food is delicious!
Again, Rabaeng Pasak Treehouse Resort just blew us away with their food! When you book, you are given the option of ordering a set meal through them. They have both meat eater and veggie options. We noticed that the food wasn’t particularly child-friendly and they took that on board and made kid -friendly meals just for us!
The food though was absolutely outstanding and there was so much if it!!
The next morning we were given the option of American or Thai breakfast and that was pretty decent too.
price promotion is amazing! It’s only 700 baht per night for the nature cottage room which can fit 1 adult and 2 small children or 2 adults and 1 small child. The deluxe cottage rooms are only 1,200 baht per night and can comfortably fit 2 adults and 2 small children. To confirm pricing it’s best to research prices for Karina Resort here or contact them directly.
Also of note, breakfast is included with the room!

Where is Rabaeng Pasak Treehouse Resort?
This resort is located in Doi Saket area and can be found here on Google Maps. There are two ways to get there. The first way takes you past The Sticky Waterfalls which is fabulous place to stop off on the way – it’s FREE! This way will take you about 2 hours without stops and is definitely the way to take if you drive a regular car. The final strech of the drive is beautiful!
The second way has steep hills and unpaved roads and is much better for larger vehicles and provides incredible views of the Doi Saket reservoir called Mae Klang.
You’ll also have to cross a bridge which is accessible from unpaved roads and leads to a steep incline which will take you straight to the resort. THis way is much faster at about just over an hour (depending on traffic).
If you do not have your own transportation, be sure to contact Rabaeng Pasak Treehouse Resort who will no doubt help to arrange transport!
