Din Cafe
This cute cafe is in Hang Dong and is so unassuming, you’ve likely driven past it time and again.

It’s a lovely spot to come for lunch or breakfast and let the kids run around.

Early Owls Cafe
Early Owls is a surprise as it’s located just outside the Ching Mai moat and is practically an oasis. It’s also a nice spot for breakfast, although contrary to their name, Early Owl’s does not open enough for actual early owls.
It’s got a large landscaped yard, a pond, and a garden to explore.
We also recommend it as a great spot to take some family photos or get the kids to pose for the camera!

Elefin Farm and Cafe
Owned and operated by the same wonderful people who run Patara Elephant Farm, Elefin Farm and Cafe was opened in a response to the changing tourism market during Covid. They decided to turn their attentions to the local market thereby creating an affordable way for locals to communicate and get to know elephants.
Here you can come for a cold drink (no alcohol sold yet when we were there) or a snack and meet some elephants up close!
It’s 100 baht for a basket of food. You head up to a platform where you feed these gentle giants. If you’re lucky, there may even be baby elephants to see!

Could 9 Cafe
Way out near the end of Hang Dong is Cloud 9. It’s a sweet café near rice fields esigned with both kids and adults in mind.
For the kids, there is this really nice outdoor play space with floating hammocks that look over a pond garden. Not sure what it’s really called, but essentially pretty plants grow out of the water and you can walk a bamboo platform and take a nice photo.
The indoor area is mainly for adults without children. It’s quite fancy and great for Instagram shots.
Cloud 9 also makes nice pizza, other food and good drinks too.

Scent of Coffee Flower Cafe (Hom Dok Kafe)
Alright, alright, I know this is a photo of a photo on a menu but LOOK at it! It’s called half-baked cookie… I’m drooling. Haven’t tried it yet though as waiting for one of my kids’ birthdays as an excuse to order like three of these. They also have proper sundaes!
So yes, this is a recommendation made largely on food.
Besides the most awesome desserts I’ve seen, Scent of Coffee Flower Cafe is child friendly as they have a kids’ menu and swings out front for them to swing away on.
There are three separated sitting areas so if your kids go bonkers after sugary goodness, you can choose to sit away from other customers.
It’s not just about dessert though. They have a nice looking western breakfast and their Thai food is really good.

Love Me Cafe [CLOSED]
Love Me Cafe is a lovely little hideaway spot. Its setting is really relaxing and shaded. There is also a small indoor sitting area that overlooks the rest of the cafe.
For children there are little bridges to walk over and koi fish to feed as well! Just be aware that there are no barriers at all around the pond, so this cafe is best for confident walkers with strong self-awareness!
The drinks were excellent and the food we had was pretty good. Mostly Thai food is available.

Ma Chill Dee Cafe [CLOSED]
This place has sure changed A LOT from when it first opened. Now it exists on BOTH sides of the 1269 Rd. On the south side of the road, Ma Chill Dee Cafe exists as a resort / flower field. You’ve likely seen people posting about it on Instagram standing in these clear bubble hubs that looks really cool.
Unfortunately to access that side, you have to pay a 75 baht Instagram fee and there’s no food or drink on that side. Which is why…
You want to be on the north side Ma Chill Dee Cafe!
Here entrance is FREE and they have incredible views and floating hammocks to hang out in! It’s an absolutely gorgeous spot to hang out. It gets better as they have a small indoor play area and an outdoor play area too!
The food is really decent with a kids meal option and drinks are excellent quality.

The bears themselves are lots of fun and enormous! Kids can climb up and slide down them which entertains them forever!

No. 39 Cafe
Rather difficult to find, No. 39 Cafe offer a quirky and cool place to check out. It’s located within the Pong Noi area but there are no signs to indicate where it actually is. From the outside, it appears to be a construction zone and you wonder if it’s been torn down. Use Googlemaps to find it and park in the dirt parking lot, then look for the British mini car. That tells you to walk that direction to the actual cafe which is quite nice.
