A restaurant for everyone in Chiang Mai with fabulous Thai food and a crazy cool slide!
Lumdee, as it’s commonly refered to, is a local Thai favourite. It’s been around for years and has quite a following among local people. The food is incredible (Thai style!) and the restaurant with huge slides is reason enough to come here.
Why not feel like a kid again and take a ride down the slides?!
There are plenty of other restaurants in Chiang Mai with playgrounds to check out too and a growing list that has high chairs.

Eat and play at this restaurant with huge slides
Lumdee is located about 20 minutes from the centre of Chiang Mai and you’ll definitely want to get there early enough for the kids to play! Going for lunch or early dinner is your best bet so the kids, both young and old can enjoy the slides over and over again. I even sneaked down a slide myself a few times!
In recent times they’ve added a second yellow slide which is really fun and adult safe. It’s easily accessible from the restaurant so you can watch your kids go up and down again and again.
There’s also a really large grassy area for children to run around on and a couple more playground structures too! The issue is that one of the adults needs to be with little kids to keep a watchful eye because even though the entire play area can be seen from the outdoor seating area, the play space leads right into a pond. There is no barrier between the lawn and the lily pad pond.
In this photo you can see the pond in the background. It’s not a big deal, as long as someone is playing with or watching the kids who will be loving the playground if they are young or young at heart. There are swings, slides, stationary tricycles and plenty of grass to play on.
We recommend coming for an early dinner or around lunch time to take full advantage of the playground and huge red slide! It seriously is so much fun 🙂
Seating
Lumdee has indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor picnic table style seating overlooking the playground. There are also high chairs available.Â
The indoor seating area is also nice and it is air conditioned. The only downside would be not being able to see the kids while they play.
Food and Drink
Food
The menu is pure Thai food that focuses on northern style delicacies. Every dish we tried was among the top Thai food we’ve ever tried. Our children loved the black sticky rice, the fish, and chicken wings. Prices are reasonable at 95 baht for a curry and around 200 baht for a whole fish.
Drinks
Lumdee serves fresh juices and smoothies along with local beers. They only serve wine by the bottle so it’s not the place to go if you like wine by the glass. Drinks run from 15-120 baht.
Birthday partiesÂ
While Lumdee doesn’t provide birthday packages, you can certainly reserve the big round table which is perfect for parties! You can decorate and arrange for the staff to bring out the cake at the right moment. Parents can relax up at the table while the kids slide to their heart’s content and play down below easily seen.
