These bakeries are open to the public where you can walk in to select a cake or have a birthday cake specially made-to-order. Some bakeries will even deliver to your door!
Khaofang Dessert Cafe
Khaofang Dessert Cafe can deliver exactly what you are looking for. Just have a look at their photos to see what I mean. Of all the bakeries, they offer the most variety at reasonable prices too! One pound cakes start at 750 baht, their incredible cupcakes go for 85 baht per piece and they offer photo printing on both cakes and cupcakes! Please order 2-3 days in advance. Khaofang offers both delivery or pick up!
Biscotti House
Run by a wonderful woman who aims to please, Biscotti House will provide you with custom birthday cakes done to perfection! There are many different kinds of cakes available including vegan options.
Cakes start at a very reasonable 500 baht and go up to 2,500 baht – but that price can feed 30 people! Also on offer are cupcakes, which go for between 30-45 baht each depending on filling.
Biscotti House also makes birthday cookies on sticks. It’s a very popular option to order as a giveaway for the kids at the end of a birthday party.
Cookies cost 30 baht each, but if you order 30 or more, the rice drops to 25 baht each. Please order at least a day in advance and you may pick up your cake or arrange for delivery.
Dailycious
This local bakery is ready for anything! Specializing in baked goods and made to order cakes and cupcakes, Dailycious has you covered. Check out their photos of previous birthday creations to get a better idea of what’s on offer. Six inch cakes are priced at 650 baht and cupcakes are 750 per dozen. Vegan cakes are also available. Please allow 3 days in advance for custom made birthday cake orders, and know that orders over 1,000 baht get a free delivery!

Butter is Better & Pancake House
A favourite among local expats, Butter is Better lives by its name – all cake products are made with 100% butter. Their cakes can also be made gluten free! Birthday cakes start at 850 baht each, however specialized custom cakes will cost more depending on the requirements. Pancake House is owned by the same owners and you can pick up from the location you have ordered from. Please allow 2 days notice for ordering!
Nuan Bakery
Operating for over 30 years, this bakery has grown to ten locations within Chiang Mai, Lampang and Chiang Rai. They must be doing something right! Offering the most affordable option in Chiang Mai for made to order cakes, you can get cakes starting at 200 baht per pound. Cupcakes go for 30 baht each or 50 baht for specialized ones. Nuan Bakery also offers photos printed on cakes and cupcakes for your special birthday treats! For custom cakes please order 2 days in advance, or alternatively you can walk in and get a pre-made cake the same day.

Best homemade bakeries for birthday cakes in Chiang Mai
Typically run out of a rented shop or home, Chiang Mai has lots of homemade bakeries. These are a select few that are popular within the expat community because they make amazing made-to-order cakes!
Chocco Junn
This homemade bakery makes the most impressive goodies! They specialize in making every birthday special with a made just-for-you cake or cupcakes. Please contact Chocco Junn directly for more information and be aware that you must be able to speak, read and write Thai! Maybe you can have a Thai friend message them for you? Their goodies definitely make the extra effort look worth it!
Wawabake Bakery
Wawabake Bakery is also mentioned quite a bit when people are looking for custom birthday cakes. Looking at their cakes and baked goodies, I can see why! The owners seem a bit shy to use English, so some proficiency in Thai is required to order from them and to find out more. Enlist the help of a friend and enjoy a fabulous birthday cake!

If you’re looking for nothing too fancy, quick and easy, then ordering a birthday cake from one of the large international chains is for you. Simply order and pick it up, or have it delivered for free!
Swensen’s
Swensen’s is famous for its ice cream cakes! Always a popular birthday cake choice, Swensen’s cakes come in chocolate, vanilla, trawberry flavour, and even cookies and cream too! Three pound cakes cost 855 baht and four pounds goes for 955 baht. The best part is that they will deliver to you anywhere in the city free of charge. They also accept Visa or Mastercard which is quite rare in Chiang Mai.
Dairy Queen
DQ is a nice and easy place to order from if you’re looking to grab and go. Specializing in various flavours of ice cream birthday cake, prices start at 389 per cake and go up to 495 baht. Delivery is available in some areas, but expect to pick up the cake in most instances.
S&P Bakery
S&P Bakery has many locations across Chiang Mai to order a birthday cake. The cakes are typically butter cream cakes but are decorated adorably. Prices begin at 615 baht per cake and go up to 855 baht. Some custom choices are available and S&P will deliver to you virtually anywhere in an urban area.
Where can you get a photo printed on a cake in Chiang Mai?
Would you like your child to have their favourite cartoon character on their cake, or maybe a photo of themselves on their birthday cake? There are a few places that can arrange this for you and some even print photos on cupcakes too!
