Relax with the family at Panmai, a lovely botanical garden cafe in Chiang Mai
Panmai Coffee is another addition to the beautiful nature cafes around Chiang Mai. Located about 20 minutes south of the moat, Panmai Coffee initially doesn’t appear to be much on the outside but an entirely different world awaits once you enter! This gem is a botanical garden cafe.

Family friendly botanical garden cafe Chiang Mai
You can easily recognize Panmai Coffee by its signature huge rock! From the outside, the cafe looks like nothing special and you can be a bit confused about whether you are in the correct place, however once you enter, you see a whole new world open up!
You find yourself in beautiful place, a botanical garden with secret nooks and crannies around every corner. A small creek runs through the restaurant and there are even fish that the kids can feed.

There’s a man made pond that you can sit and overlook where there are ducks and other birds living near. You can watch them go for a swim while you sit in the shade of the greenery and umbrellas.
Seating
There are so many seating options and none of them are the same! There are rocks tables, stool and bar tables, garden tables, and more! Our favourite spot is the Thai pillow area, but you can bet others love it too.

Where ever you decide to sit there will be misters to keep you cool and fans upon request. With all the different seating options, you’ll want to come back again to try a different spot! Each one manages to make you feel secluded away from other patrons which is nice!
When is the best time to go to Panmai Coffee?
Anytime! They have designed the botanical cafe to be cool and shaded, although you will get wet it rains so just keep an eye on the sky!
What kind of food do they have at Panmai Coffee?
Food
The food was absolutely delicious! The menu is small and largely consists of favourite Thai dishes. We’ve tried about 6 of the dishes now and they were all great! The price is very reasonable too for the portion size and quality of food that you get. They also have French fries for the kids that can be falvoured.
Drink
If you request it, they will actually serve your drinks in real glasses. At least Panmai Coffee’s owners are environmentally conscious! The drinks (sodas in this photo) were amazing. It’s the first time I’ve had not overly sweet drinks. They were perfectly flavoured and refreshing.
How to get to Panmai Coffee?
To get here only takes about 20 minutes from the centre of town. Grab is the easiest solution if you don’t have your own transportation. Of course you could also take a taxi as well. To get here by yourself, drive south along Hang Dong Road (the 108) to the second ring road (the 121) and turn left heading east. Keep an eye out for a PT gas station red and green sign. Panmai Coffee is located just before that gas station. Look for the big rock too! Parking is just outside the cafe.
